Myofascial Release Therapy
Claire studied to be a teacher of Physical Education at Chelsea School of Human Movement, Brighton University, graduating with a B.Ed Hons in 1988. After 20 years of teaching in Middlesex and Surrey, Claire trained to become a Sports Massage Therapist and gained a Head Therapist position with her local Ryman League football club. She extended her skills within sports injuries, widening her clients to rowing, kayaking, athletics and racquet sports players.
In 2008 Claire trained in Myofascial Release techniques. She has worked with Ruth Duncan, assisting with the delivery of courses and also trained in the United States with John Barnes. This is a very effective treatment for chronic and multi layered conditions. Claire also uses this technique to treat opera singers and musicians from as far and wide as Europe and USA.
Claire has continued to teach, both newly qualifying Sports Massage Therapists and university students following a Sports Therapy degree.
Claire’s knowledge of anatomy and movement extends over a vast range of sports and allows her to understand restriction issues that many of her clients bring to her.
In 2012 Claire was selected to be a Sports Massage Therapist at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. She treated the visiting rowers and kayak athletes at their Olympic village and on site at Eton Dorney. During the Paralympics she was based in the main Olympic Park working with a variety of athletes and officials.
Claire is highly qualified and can provide treatments for:
